Jessy Yasmeen: Salt & Soil album release

Description

Rotterdam-based singer-songwriter and producer Jessy Yasmeen presents her new album Salt & Soil with a special release show at BIRD. Her music moves between neo-soul, jazz, hip-hop and subtle Latin influences, shaped by warm vocals, honest songwriting and a sound rooted in connection.

Salt & Soil is presented as a personal album in two chapters. Salt explores searching, emptiness and confrontation, with stripped-back arrangements, jazz-driven drums and boom bap-inspired textures. Soil moves towards encounter, renewal and growth, opening into warmer arrangements, layered harmonies, organic percussion and Latin influences.

For this album release concert, Yasmeen is joined by an extended ensemble with drums, percussion, double bass, keys, guitar, violin, flute, trumpet and backing vocals. Live elements such as congas, flute and the Chinese guzheng add extra colour to a performance that brings her full sonic world to the stage.

Jessy Yasmeen has received support from 3voor12, NPO Radio 2 and BBC Radio, performed from London to Cuba, won the Rotterdam Music Award Export Prize and was selected for Popronde 2024. Limited edition Salt & Soil vinyl records and exclusive merchandise will be available during the event.
