Description

MEMORIALS bring their only Dutch show to Rotown, with support from Chaton Laveur. The duo, made up of Verity Susman and Matthew Simms, creates psychedelic rock and pop that nods to the 1960s while wandering freely into jazz, krautrock and garage rock.

Their sound is colourful, cosmic and just odd enough in the best possible way. Songs can move from dreamy psych-pop into loose experimental passages, with crescendos that feel more like sonic weather than neat pop structures. Simms is also known as the guitarist of legendary post-punk band WIRE, adding another layer of underground pedigree to the project.

Fans of La Femme, CAN and Stereolab should find plenty to explore here, especially if they like their psychedelia a little strange and adventurous. For a first listen, try In The Weeds.
