Live Music in Rotterdam
Kiwi Jr.

Description

Kiwi Jr. comes to Rotown with jangly indie rock that sounds sunnier than its Canadian origin might suggest. The five-piece is from Ontario, but its music nods strongly towards New Zealand guitar pop in the spirit of The Clean and The Chills, filtered through the looser indie and garage instincts of Pavement and The Modern Lovers.

After previous releases on the respected Sub Pop label, Kiwi Jr. now arrives in Rotterdam ahead of a forthcoming fourth album. On record, the band can sound dry, laid-back and lightly scruffy, but live the songs gain more speed, bite and energy. Expect sharp hooks, restless guitars and a set that turns slacker rock into something considerably more urgent.

My Purse joins Kiwi Jr. as support for the Rotterdam show.
