Mammal Hands
Event
- When:
- Sun, 5. July 2026, 19:30 h
- Category:
- Live Music in Rotterdam
Description
Mammal Hands brings its hypnotic blend of jazz and electronica to Rotterdam for a seated concert at LantarenVenster. The Norwich trio has built a distinctive sound around piano, drums and saxophone or clarinet, creating music that feels both meditative and quietly urgent.
Their compositions draw from spiritual jazz, folk, modern classical music, as well as Indian and North African influences, gradually building from sparse motifs into something immersive and deeply rhythmic. At the centre of that sound are brothers Jordan and Nick Smart, joined by drummer Rob Turner, formerly of GoGo Penguin. Together, they create a rich and propulsive world without the need for a bass instrument. Live, Mammal Hands has a reputation for intense, trance-like performances, and with the 2026 album Circadia, the trio moves further into a fresh rhythmic direction.
The concert starts earlier than usual at 19:30 because of the football World Cup schedule, so anyone heading to LantarenVenster will want to keep that in mind.
