Indianapolis band Good Flying Birds lands at V11 in Rotterdam with a jangly, low-fi indie sound that pulls from Beat Happening, The Vaselines and Teenage Fanclub. The listing frames them as another curious export from the American Midwest, though in this case the route runs through janglepop, noisepop and a playful kind of emotional scruffiness rather than anything too polished.

They arrive with the new album Talulah’s Tape, described as a record full of sensitive lyrics from a band that quite clearly does not take itself too seriously. That balance, heartfelt but a bit cheeky, seems to be part of the appeal.
