Dishwasher: Anemoia

If you like your jazz with a bit of grit under the nails, Dishwasher might be your new favourite discovery. The Ghent trio makes music for “non-jazz believers”, scrubbing away genre boundaries until you get something that feels crisp, direct, and slightly unpredictable. Think jazz technique with electronic instincts, built for movement as much as for listening.

This show is part of In The Round at LantarenVenster, which flips the usual stage setup. You’re right in the middle of it, surrounded by the sound, with the band playing in a more intimate setting than a standard gig. There’s also a DJ in the room, and you’re allowed to bring your drink inside, which makes the whole night feel a little more like a late set than a formal concert.

Dishwasher’s tracks bounce between energetic, danceable parts and dreamier, darker sound fields. With their upcoming second album Anemoia, the electronic layer goes further: more synths, more effects on sax, bass and drums, while the jazz roots stay present. Expect a set that lands somewhere between filmic, retro-futuristic, neo-noir, and quietly infectious.
