A mystical dialogue of music and dance flows between Andalusia, Iran and Syria. Inspired by Sufi philosophy, Carried by the Wind explores meaning, surrender and transcendence.

Melodies travel with the wind, carried by restless souls. As a child growing up in Cádiz, Antonio Lizana was drawn to echoes that seemed to come from faraway lands. The music of Zurna master Farouk Tekbilek was his first introduction to the unfamiliar and unknown — a moment of awakening.

Iranian bassist Arin Keshishi was part of Lizana’s quintet, and their collaboration blossomed into something more. Their musical partnership, shaped by shared performances and experiences, laid the foundation for this cross-cultural journey.

Movement is a constant in this joint voyage of discovery. Syrian dancer Ahmad Joudeh brings his personal story of exile, resilience and transformation. His Sufi-inspired whirling dances express the soul’s inner life, blurring the lines between surrender and rhythm, body and music.

Marmoucha Orchestra provides the musical foundation, blending flamenco with melodies from across Southwest Asia and North Africa. Under the guidance of renowned musicians, this ensemble forges a vibrant new sound full of soul and fire.
