Idema/Serierse Quartet – Serenade in Blue

Some musical encounters feel like coming home. For the Idema/Serierse Quartet, revisiting classic standards is both a nostalgic journey and a fresh artistic challenge. In Serenade in Blue—recorded at the Roode Bioscoop in Amsterdam—guitarist Gijs Idema and vocalist Anna Serierse return to the Great American Songbook a decade after their first collaboration.

Following two original albums, including the Edison-nominated Motus, the quartet now lends a new voice to beloved standards. Familiar songs from earlier eras are reimagined with tasteful arrangements, giving tradition a renewed perspective. The interplay between Idema’s subtle guitar and Serierse’s expressive voice is fluid and balanced, turning each track into a heartfelt tribute and a bold step forward.
