Chris Cheek, Rembrandt Frerichs, Mark Haanstra & Jorge Rossy

Following a successful tour in 2024, four leading figures of the contemporary jazz scene return to the Netherlands: saxophonist Chris Cheek, Rembrandt Frerichs on Rhodes and Moog, Mark Haanstra on bass, and Jorge Rossy on drums.

American saxophonist Chris Cheek is celebrated for his lyrical and expressive style, having previously collaborated with renowned artists such as Kurt Rosenwinkel and Bill Frisell. Spanish jazz drummer and vibraphonist Jorge Rossy, known for his work with the Brad Mehldau Trio, first met Cheek at Berklee College of Music in the late 1980s. Since Cheek’s debut album I Wish I Knew, the pair have performed together on numerous recordings. Their last joint performances in the Netherlands and Belgium took place in 1995.

This supergroup will present an evening of original compositions, rich in harmony, colour, and room for improvisation. Rembrandt Frerichs opts for the infectious textures of the Fender Rhodes and Moog, while Mark Haanstra’s bass lines promise deep grooves throughout.
