Raging Against Various Elements

Connor Schumacher brings Raging Against Various Elements to Oude Luxor, a raw techno-jazz dance production about grief, rage, love and finding a way back to life.

The performance grew out of Schumacher’s own experiences with loss, including the unexpected death of his sister. Dance became a way to process grief, regain control and reconnect with others. That personal journey sits at the centre of this production, where the dancefloor becomes a space to move through pain rather than around it.

Together with artists Boris Acket and Elsemarijn Bruijs, Schumacher creates an immersive environment of mirrors, distorted light and shifting visual perspectives. Music by Pascal Pinkert, also known as DJ Europarking, combines techno and jazz, while six performers push the movement between rave culture and contemporary dance.

The production won De Zwaan for most impressive dance production of the season, one of the major Dutch awards for dance. It is performed in English and contains flashing lights.
