Description

Kinshasa collective Fulu Miziki comes to Grounds with a wild, Afrofuturist performance built around instruments made from discarded materials. Punk, electronic music and industrial soukous collide in a sound that is as inventive as the band’s visual identity.

The name Fulu Miziki roughly translates as ‘music from rubbish’, reflecting the group’s belief that discarded objects can be given a new purpose. The musicians build their own instruments from recycled materials and perform in striking homemade masks and costumes.

Behind the spectacle sits a wider message about creativity, sustainability and the relationship between people and nature. Fulu Miziki imagines a future in which art creates space for freedom, peace and new possibilities.
