Padel Copa Rotterdam: International Padel Tournament

ROTTERDAM, 10 July 2023 – In a first for the city, Rotterdam is set to host the Padel Copa Rotterdam, an international padel tournament. Organised in collaboration with Sportworx, the International Padel Federation (FIP), and the Koninklijke Nederlandse Lawn Tennis Bond (KNLTB), this much-anticipated event brings an emerging global sport to Rotterdam's vibrant cityscape.

Padel Copa Rotterdam's significance

Under the guidance of Tournament Director Flip van Betuw, this event (Internationaal padeltoernooi) will unfold from the 14th to the 17th of September 2023. The Padel Copa serves as a platform for showcasing top-level padel talent as the sport sees an increasing fan base worldwide, including the Netherlands.

Understanding the growth of padel

Over recent years, padel's ascent among the world's rapidly-growing sports has been unquestionable, with the Netherlands reflecting this global trend. As more individuals discover and develop an affinity for the game, the Padel Copa marks an exciting phase in padel's evolution.

Venue and previous champions

The Padel Copa will be held in the Skybox Arena at Henegouwerplein, a stadium that promises an immersive sporting experience. Adding to the festive atmosphere will be a mix of presentations, entertainment, and music.

Last year, the same Arena at Jaarbeursplein in Utrecht witnessed Bram Meijer and Stan Richters clinch a resounding victory in the men's tournament. Both champions are poised to defend their title in Rotterdam this year.

In anticipation of the event, Meijer stated, 'This is one of the coolest events in the Netherlands. You can feel the accessibility of the sport in the stadium. It's a beautiful mix of people watching sport and having a good time.'

Location and directions

The Skybox Arena, located at Henegouwerplein, lies in the heart of Rotterdam and offers easy access for locals and visitors alike. Nestled in an area renowned for its lively energy and architectural beauty, the venue adds to the city's burgeoning sporting calendar.
