Millennium Jazz Orchestra met Claron McFadden & Manu van Kersbergen: de drinkbare rivier

Millennium Jazz Orchestra brings De drinkbare rivier to LantarenVenster: a theatrical music project about the relationship between people and water. Inspired by Li An Phoa’s book Drinkbare Rivieren, the performance follows a turbulent journey of a river meeting humankind, from source to sea.

The project combines orchestral jazz, classical music, hip-hop, spoken word, songs and visuals. Composer, arranger and bandleader Joan Reinders creates the musical world, while Marieke Meischke contributes the libretto and spoken-word texts. Award-winning nature filmmakers Arthur de Bruin and Dick Harrewijn provide the visuals.

Soprano Claron McFadden appears as De Rivier, while spoken-word artist Manu van Kersbergen represents De Mens. Together with the Millennium Jazz Orchestra, they explore nature, conflict, ignorance, harmony, pollution, beauty, hope and reconciliation.

Expect a concert that feels more like a staged musical journey than a standard jazz evening. Big band, big themes, big water energy. 🌊
