Turin Brakes

Turin Brakes return to Rotown for a special acoustic show built around stripped-back versions of songs from their rich catalogue. More than 25 years after breaking through with debut album The Optimist LP, the London band still has a loyal following thanks to finely crafted songs, pure vocal harmonies and warm melodies.

Formed around childhood friends Olly Knights and Gale Paridjanian, Turin Brakes are known for classics such as Pain Killer (Summer Rain) and Underdog (Save Me). Their debut album was nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2001, while the band also played Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage in 2003, just before Radiohead’s headline show. Casual little slot, that one.

Their album Spacehopper is their tenth studio album and was recorded in the same studio as their debut, 25 years later. At Rotown, expect an intimate evening with songs that prove careful songwriting can age very nicely indeed.
