Victoryland

Victoryland come to Rotown with colourful indie rock that balances melancholy, experimentation and seriously catchy hooks. Built around Brooklyn musicians Julian McCamman and Dan Howard, the band turns themes of alienation, longing and loneliness into songs that feel exuberant rather than withdrawn.

Their acclaimed label debut, My Heart Is A Room With No Cameras In It, was recorded in McCamman’s basement in Bed-Stuy and Howard’s Williamsburg studio. Its sound combines the emotional charge of Cold War Kids, the eccentric edge of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and the danceable momentum of LCD Soundsystem.

Victoryland began with the independently recorded debut album Sprain. McCamman previously played in Blood, where he met Howard during the recording of the band’s album Loving You Backwards. Victoryland later supported LCD Soundsystem on tour, giving their restless DIY indie sound a much larger stage.
