The Bad Plus is an acoustic jazz quartet with the intensity of a rock band. A democratic unit with an unshakable vision, the band is known for its electrifying live performances and unconventional interpretations of music beyond the jazz genre, covering artists such as Nirvana, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, and Stravinsky.

After three years, this boundary-pushing quartet returns to LantarenVenster with music from their latest album, Complex Emotions, released in September 2024 by Edition Records. The album explores the balance between abstraction and emotion, delivering compositions that are both powerful and intimate.

Constantly evolving, The Bad Plus took a bold new direction by eliminating the piano from their lineup. This shift injected fresh energy and inspiration into their sound, expanding their musical universe. Known for pushing boundaries between genres and styles, Complex Emotions reaffirms The Bad Plus as one of the most forward-thinking bands in jazz today.
