Description
UK trio The Wave Pictures bring their artful, lo-fi guitar pop to Rotown in Rotterdam. Hailing from Wymeswold in Leicestershire, the band are known for jangling 80s-inspired melodies that sit somewhere between The Cleaners From Venus, The Pastels and Belle and Sebastian, while still sneaking in a scruffy garage-rock edge. Expect laidback songs packed with nimble guitar solos that appear exactly when you least expect them, delivered with the easy charm of a group that has been releasing records at a steady pace for two decades.
Over the years The Wave Pictures have collaborated with garage-rock legend Billy Childish on the album Great Big Flamingo Burning Moon and built up a devoted following among indie fans who love bands with strong “your favourite band’s favourite band” energy. Hearing them up close in Rotown’s intimate setting should be a treat for anyone into folk rock, indie rock and classic jangle pop.
