Eydís Evensen

Icelandic pianist and composer Eydís Evensen brings her minimalist, neoclassical and ambient sound to LantarenVenster in Rotterdam. Her music breathes the raw landscapes of her homeland and folds together a wide range of influences, from Tchaikovsky and romantic-era composers to minimalists such as Philip Glass and contemporary artists like Thom Yorke. Pieces unfold as intimate, restrained stories about grief, hope and memory, with melodies that seem to grow organically in the room so that no performance feels quite the same.

Since her debut Bylur and follow-up The Light, Evensen has found a fast-growing international audience, further expanded with her recent album Oceanic Mirror. On stage she creates a meditative atmosphere where every note carries emotional weight, making this Rotterdam concert a special opportunity for fans of modern piano music and atmospheric soundscapes.
