Description

Baroeg opens the doors of its new building with a hard-hitting Sunday matinee: Festerfest brings black metal, post-metal, punkrock and dark ambient under one roof in Lombardijen. The first announced wave features Hulder (US black metal), Ontaard (NL post-metal) and Down With The System (System of a Down tribute), alongside Day Drinker (NL/BE punkrock), Akelei (NL doom), Manica (NL dark ambient), Headless Hunter (NL thrash) and Savage Beat (NL streetpunk). More names are promised. A fitting test run for the venue’s next chapter in Rotterdam.

Description

Baroeg is a legendary subcultural pop venue in Rotterdam, known as the city’s home base for hard and alternative music. Since the early 1980s it has been the go-to spot for metal, punk, hardcore, rock, gothic, industrial, psychobilly and other underground styles. What started as an open youth centre grew into a full pop podium with a loyal community and its own annual festival, Baroeg Open Air. 

The venue sits in the Lombardijen neighbourhood by the Spinozapark and has an intimate club vibe: a compact hall with a low stage, solid sound system and a bar where artists and visitors mingle. For many underground and alternative fans in Rotterdam, Baroeg is less a random venue and more a second living room.
