Thomas Azier – Power to the people who don’t want it

Thomas Azier brings his trio show Power to the people who don’t want it to the Jurriaanse Zaal at de Doelen, following a European tour and a sold-out night at Paradiso Tolhuistuin. In this more intimate Rotterdam setting, Azier reshapes his electronic art-pop into a live experience that leans on voice, keys and subtle production, drawing the audience into a dreamy, filmic sound world. Highlights from his six-album catalogue sit next to newer material, framed by understated visuals and close contact with the hall.

Azier has built a reputation both as a solo artist and collaborator, working with names such as Stromae and Anouk while developing his own mix of electronic pop, experimental textures and songcraft. For this concert on Schouwburgplein he performs in trio format, opening up space for detail and spontaneity on stage. Support comes from French artist Adrien Pallot with At the Event Horizon, a set that moves between choral-inspired passages, meditative electronics and the plaintive sound of viola da gamba.
