The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw brings its Swinging Holidays programme to the Jurriaanse Zaal at de Doelen, turning Schouwburgplein into a big band hotspot in the run-up to Christmas. Under the direction of Grammy-winning bassist and arranger John Clayton, the ensemble revisits jazz standards and Christmas repertoire with full brass, rhythm section and two guest vocalists from the United States. 

Saxophonist and vocalist Camille Thurman, known from tours with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, fronts the band alongside Tyreek McDole, winner of the 2023 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition. Together with the Jazz Orchestra’s Dutch section leaders, they move between swing, ballads and up-tempo arrangements that nod to classic American holiday albums without turning the evening into nostalgia. Rotterdam audiences can expect a concert that balances big band power and intimate vocal moments, presented in one of de Doelen’s most popular jazz halls.
