Description

Soprano Ana-Carmen Balestra, drawing on her Argentine roots, presents a musical theatre recital at de Doelen that reflects on the journey of life. Inspired by her acclaimed debut at London’s Wigmore Hall, the programme traces the stages of existence: from the innocence of childhood to yearning love, from heartbreaking loss to the appreciation of everyday joys.

Blending South American music with classical repertoire, Balestra weaves together pieces by Poulenc, Piazzolla and Mercedes Sosa, alongside a newly written work. Her performance combines passionate music with personal storytelling and original texts, inviting the audience to share in a celebration of life in all its forms. At the piano, Charlie Bo Meijering provides accompaniment.
