The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra launches its new season at de Doelen with a programme that journeys across myth, nature and the sea. Under the baton of Dalia Stasevska, the evening sails from Meredith’s Nautilus to Sibelius’s Scene with Cranes and Luonnotar, with soprano Aphrodite Patoulidou bringing her luminous voice to the stage. Berio’s Folk Songs add colour from around the globe, while Respighi’s Pini di Roma provides a grand, evocative finale.

Patoulidou, praised by de Volkskrant for her ability to conjure heaven “through the eyes of a child,” will appear not only as vocalist but also on the nyckelharpa, enriching the programme’s blend of the familiar and the unexpected. It promises to be an opening night filled with wonder and anticipation for the season ahead.
