Trumpeter Ian Cleaver steps into the spotlight at LantarenVenster with his first full album as bandleader and composer, Yarn!. Blending swing and jazz with both tradition and innovation, the record draws on the idea of “telling a yarn”—weaving stories and experiences into sound. Born in Amsterdam and now based in New York, Cleaver has worked with icons such as Ack van Rooyen and John Engels, while studying under legends like Buster Williams and Jon Faddis at the Manhattan School of Music. His current quintet features saxophonist Ben van Gelder, pianist Timothy Banchet, bassist Steven Zwanink and drummer Willie Bowman, forming a line-up poised to deliver an evening of inspired storytelling through jazz.
