Canadian post-punk band Preoccupations return to Rotterdam with their trademark blend of contradictions: shimmering synths layered over jagged guitar lines, melodies that feel urgent yet unsettling, and lyrics steeped in existential dread. For over a decade, the group has turned darkness—fear, despair and deep-seated anxieties—into songs that at first sound almost uplifting, only to reveal a restless undercurrent pulling listeners into a world that is both familiar and disorienting. With their fifth album Ill at Ease on the horizon, the band once again ventures into unknown territory, promising bold new explorations that push beyond their established sound.
