"He makes his guitar sound like a complete orchestra," wrote de Volkskrant about Yerai Cortés’s debut at Flamenco Biënnale Nederland 2023. Now, Yerai returns for a solo recital, celebrating the release of his debut album La guitarra flamenca de Yerai Cortés — launched especially for this year’s edition of the festival.

Born in Alicante in 1995, Yerai Cortés is one of the brightest stars among the new wave of flamenco guitarists. He draws from the traditional gitano style passed down through his father and grandfather, yet infuses it with his own ‘soniquete’ (swing), creating a flamenco sound that feels both timeless and modern.

Cortés doesn’t shy away from crossing musical boundaries. He has shared the stage with Cameroonian jazz bassist Richard Bona and joined Spanish rapper C. Tangana on tour — experiences that shaped his personal and artistic growth. His debut album, featured in the documentary La guitarra flamenca de Yerai Cortés, won two Goya Awards (Spanish Oscars) in 2025.
