Double bill of Norwegian-Dutch jazz excellence

Norwegian pianist Espen Berg returns to LantarenVenster with his trio, described as a sandbox for rhythmic and compositional experimentation. While deeply rooted in the traditions of jazz piano trios, the group maintains a sharp identity and driving energy. Their performances are marked by rich compositions and dynamic interplay, offering an invigorating take on contemporary Nordic jazz.

Beiggja, the second act of the evening, is a new collaboration between Dutch saxophonist Kika Sprangers and Norwegian pianist Kjetil Mulelid. Joined by ECM-affiliated bassist Mats Eilertsen and drummer Per Oddvar Johansen, this international quartet presents music from their forthcoming debut Morning, set for release in 2025. Written and recorded during a retreat in rural Norway, the album blends serene textures with melodic improvisations, walking the line between structure and freedom.
