The Basklarinet Festijn returns to LantarenVenster on Sunday 14 September 2025, shining a spotlight on one of music’s most versatile instruments. Able to lead, accompany, and blend into any ensemble, the bass clarinet is celebrated here for its colourful tones and unconventional sounds.

Founded by bass clarinetists Fie Schouten and Tobias Klein, the festival embraces a broad artistic dialogue, this year focusing on a cultural exchange with France and Italy. The programme reflects this with a diverse lineup of musicians, compositions, and performances enriched by visual arts and literature.

Expect an afternoon of deep, dark resonance, heavenly squeaks, and purring satisfaction — all from the bass clarinet.
