Celebrating 20 years of fearless improvisation at LantarenVenster

On Thursday 28 November 2025, Amsterdam-based ensemble Spinifex marks its 20th anniversary with Maxximus—a brand-new project that pushes their signature free jazz energy into fresh territory. For this occasion, Spinifex joins forces with renowned international guests: New York violist Jessica Pavone, Cologne-based cellist Elisabeth Coudoux, and Berlin’s Greek-German vibraphonist and percussionist Evi Filippou.

Known for explosive shows and an adventurous blend of improvisation and composition, Spinifex reimagines their sound through a chamber-like lens on Maxximus. Expect a sonic journey where strings, acoustic guitar, bass clarinet and vibraphone converge.

This seated concert promises a bold celebration of innovation and musical freedom—exactly what you'd expect from one of Europe’s most daring improvisation outfits.
