For over a decade, Preoccupations have navigated a universe of contradictions. They draw from a seemingly endless well of darkness — anxiety, existential despair, and deep-seated worries — yet manage to transform these emotions into post-punk tracks that, at first listen, sound almost upbeat.

Beneath shimmering synths, fractured melodies, and jagged guitar lines, however, lies a gripping undercurrent that pulls listeners into a world that feels both familiar and unsettling.

Their fifth album, III at Ease, is about to be released. Where it fits within their discography is hard to say — each Preoccupations album is a leap into the unknown, a bold exploration translated into a collection of songs. Once again, the band delves into uncharted territory, and only time will reveal where they'll ultimately land.
