Description
American funk rock pioneers Mother’s Finest come to Baroeg with more than five decades of music that refuses to stay inside a single genre.
Formed in Atlanta in 1970, the band helped carve out its own space between funk, hard rock, soul, R&B and metal. Joyce Kennedy and Glenn “Doc” Murdock remain at the front of a group whose powerful live reputation has followed it across generations. Longtime members Gary “Moses Mo” Moore and Jerry “Wyzard” Seay are also part of the current line-up.
Mother’s Finest developed its signature sound at a time when the boundaries between Black funk and predominantly white rock scenes were considerably harder to cross. Rather than choosing one side, the band built its identity around both, creating music driven by heavy guitars, deep grooves and powerhouse vocals.
More than 50 years later, that combination remains the heart of their live shows. The Rotterdam concert forms part of the Rotterdam Rocks series and brings the band to the new Baroeg for a full evening of funk rock in Rotterdam-Zuid.

Description
Baroeg is a legendary subcultural pop venue in Rotterdam, known as the city’s home base for hard and alternative music. Since the early 1980s it has been the go-to spot for metal, punk, hardcore, rock, gothic, industrial, psychobilly and other underground styles. What started as an open youth centre grew into a full pop podium with a loyal community and its own annual festival, Baroeg Open Air.
The venue sits in the Lombardijen neighbourhood by the Spinozapark and has an intimate club vibe: a compact hall with a low stage, solid sound system and a bar where artists and visitors mingle. For many underground and alternative fans in Rotterdam, Baroeg is less a random venue and more a second living room.
