Koyaman

Greek trio Koyaman returns to Grounds with a hypnotic mix of Eastern Mediterranean traditions, psychedelic grooves, dub and electronics.

The group brings traditional instruments such as oud and kanun into a contemporary setting of loops, breakbeats and electronic rhythms. Their music remains rooted in the Eastern Mediterranean, but the trio treats those traditions as material to experiment with, resulting in a sound that can be both atmospheric and highly danceable.

Koyaman consists of Kostas Tsarouchis on oud and electronics, Manolis Christodoulou on kanun and electronics, and Yiannis Rizopoulos on drums, percussion and electronic pads. Improvisation plays an important role in their live shows, giving the music plenty of room to shift between traditional melodies, dub-heavy grooves and more psychedelic passages.

The trio released its self-titled debut album Koyaman in 2025 and returns to Rotterdam after an earlier Grounds appearance that same year.
