Josua Peter

Dutch-South African singer-songwriter Josua Peter comes to Rotown with his Closer Than You Think tour, blending intimate folk, indie and pop with personal songwriting.

Born in Alkmaar and raised with South African roots, Peter writes about identity, connection, growing older and the feeling of finding your way home. His distinctive voice gives the quieter moments an intimate feel while allowing the songs to open up into much bigger pop arrangements.

His early releases quickly attracted attention in the Netherlands. Bones became both a Radio 2 Topsong and a 3FM Megahit, while Peter was named 3FM Talent during Noorderslag. He has since appeared at Paaspop, Concert at SEA and Appelpop, supported Tom Jones and joined Racoon on tour.

The Rotterdam date forms part of Peter’s first headline tour, following the release of EP Closer Than You Think. Listeners of Bon Iver, Ben Howard and Hozier should find plenty of familiar ground in his combination of atmospheric songwriting and emotional folk-pop.
