The London Philharmonic Orchestra comes to de Doelen with pianist Alice Sara Ott and conductor Edward Gardner for an afternoon spanning Beethoven, Rachmaninov and Sibelius.

At the centre of the programme is Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4, with Alice Sara Ott as soloist. One of Beethoven’s most intimate piano concertos, the work creates an unusually close dialogue between piano and orchestra before building towards its energetic finale.

The concert opens with Rachmaninov’s early Youth Symphony, offering a glimpse of the musical voice he would later develop in his larger symphonic works. After Beethoven, the London Philharmonic Orchestra turns to Sibelius’ Symphony No. 5, a work shaped by broad orchestral landscapes, rhythmic movement and one of the Finnish composer’s best-known finales.

The performance forms part of de Doelen’s international orchestra series and its 60th anniversary programme.
