Description
American singer Lizz Wright comes to de Doelen with her warm blend of jazz, soul, gospel and folk.
Raised in Georgia as the daughter of a preacher, Wright began singing in church, where gospel and call-and-response traditions became an important part of her musical foundation. Over more than two decades she has developed a distinctive sound centred on her deep alto voice, understated arrangements and songs about love, humanity and connection.
Her debut album Salt reached number one on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Chart, establishing her internationally. Her more recent album Shadow, released in 2024, is among her most personal records, exploring themes of love, loss and healing while retaining the gospel, blues and folk influences that run throughout her work.
The Rotterdam concert takes place in de Doelen’s Grote Zaal and is presented in collaboration with BIRD.
