Eivind Aarset 4tet: Strange Hands

Norwegian guitarist Eivind Aarset returns to LantarenVenster with his quartet and music from Strange Hands, an album that strips his sound back to its core while keeping the cinematic atmosphere that has long defined his work.

Released in March 2026 on Bugge Wesseltoft’s Jazzland label, Strange Hands finds the quartet sounding sharper and less predictable. Ambient textures, post-rock, drum and bass, noise and electronics flow into rhythmically driven passages, with Aarset’s guitar moving between atmospheric soundscapes and strong melodic lines.

Aarset began his career in heavy metal before discovering jazz and developing a musical language that refuses to stay within one genre. Over the years he has worked with artists including Ray Charles, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Jan Garbarek, Nils Petter Molvær and Bugge Wesseltoft.

This concert marks the quartet’s return to LantarenVenster after ten years.
