Carel Kraayenhof & Matangi Quartet: Maestro Morricone

Description

Bandoneon player Carel Kraayenhof and the Matangi Quartet bring the music of Ennio Morricone to LantarenVenster in Maestro Morricone.

Kraayenhof and Morricone shared a musical friendship and performed together in the past. For this programme, Kraayenhof and the quartet explored Morricone’s archive and created new arrangements for bandoneon and string quartet, bringing a more intimate character to some of the composer’s best-known music.

The concert includes celebrated film themes, including music from Once Upon a Time in the West, alongside pieces that reflect Morricone’s broader influence on composers such as Max Richter, Osvaldo Golijov and Philip Glass.
