Licks & Brains’ Funky Xmas with Mrs. Hips & Jared Grant

Licks & Brains returns to LantarenVenster with a festive Christmas show filled with soul, funk, jazz and big-band grooves. Familiar seasonal songs receive energetic new arrangements inspired by artists such as James Brown, Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, Stevie Wonder and Beyoncé.

Led by saxophonist and arranger Rolf Delfos, the large ensemble combines a powerful horn section with guitar, Fender Rhodes, Hammond organ, bass, drums and percussion. The result is a Christmas concert that trades quiet background music for swinging rhythms and danceable arrangements.

Vocalists Mrs. Hips and Jared Grant join the orchestra. Mrs. Hips is the stage name of Simone Roerade, known for her work with Candy Dulfer. Jared Grant brings a strong soul and funk sound influenced by James Brown, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Prince.

Expect Christmas classics with punchy brass, deep grooves and enough energy to carry the festive season straight onto the dance floor.
