Description

Ayanna Witter-Johnson returns to Grounds with a performance that moves between classical, jazz, reggae, soul and R&B. The British-Jamaican singer, songwriter, pianist, cellist and composer is often described as a one-woman orchestra, using cello, voice and storytelling to create a sound that feels both grounded and wide open.

Her work celebrates heritage, identity and culture, while giving plenty of space to personal reflection and musical risk. Witter-Johnson has collaborated with artists including Anoushka Shankar, Nitin Sawhney, Peter Gabriel, Andrea Bocelli and Jools Holland, yet her own live shows remain intimate, direct and unmistakably personal.

In 2026, she is set to release her second album New Roots, a project shaped by themes of identity, belonging and rebirth. At Grounds in Rotterdam, expect rich vocals, lush cello arrangements and a performance that moves with quiet power.
