Description

Dutch string ensemble Woodcraft brings a fresh voice to today’s jazz and improvised music, blending groove, counterpoint and vocals with violin, viola and cello. The group treats their instruments as open terrain, folding in extended techniques and influences that range from Brad Mehldau and Herbie Hancock to Stravinsky and Shostakovich. After two acclaimed releases — Woodcraft (2023) and Equinox (2025) — and double honours at the Dutch Jazz Competition 2022 (jury prize and audience award), the quartet now debuts live at LantarenVenster.
