Bohemian Betyars + Pineapple Road

Budapest-based folk-punk outfit Bohemian Betyars brings its high-voltage live show to Grounds in Rotterdam, with Leiden indie pop band Pineapple Road opening the night. Since forming in 2009, Bohemian Betyars has built a reputation for speed-folk freak-punk that blends Hungarian, Balkan and Gipsy influences into fast, brass-driven party music. Their concerts are loud, colourful and tightly played, with the band leaning into call-and-response moments and big choruses that tend to turn the venue into one moving crowd.

Pineapple Road sets the tone with a bright, groove-oriented brand of indie pop that has already made them a regular name in Leiden’s scene. Their album HONEY has been compared to Parcels for its catchy, tightly arranged songs, which the four-piece expands on stage with added dynamics and extended sections. The band’s one-metre-tall disco pineapple has become part of the staging, underlining the playful side of their live show. Together, the two bands position this Friday night at Grounds firmly as a standing, dance-focused gig rather than a sit-down concert.
