White Christmas at de Doelen – Sunday morning concert

White Christmas at de Doelen has grown into a fixed part of Rotterdam’s December calendar. For more than thirty years, this Christmas concert has brought a full orchestra, choir and festive repertoire to the Grote Zaal on Schouwburgplein, turning a Sunday morning into a seasonal gathering for regular visitors and newcomers. 

Conductor Rien den Hartog leads his large orchestra Symphonic Friends in a programme of Christmas music with a few surprises built in. The focus is on a warm, easy-going atmosphere rather than formality, which has helped make the concert a yearly tradition that often sells out well in advance. For many Rotterdam residents, White Christmas at de Doelen marks the informal start of the holidays in the city centre concert hall.
