Goldings, Bernstein, Stewart — The Legendary Organ Trio

For over three decades, Larry Goldings, Peter Bernstein and Bill Stewart have formed a unique and tight-knit organ trio, celebrated for their subtle, adventurous and timeless interplay. Their latest album Perpetual Pendulum (2022) marked another milestone in their long collaboration, blending hard-swinging modernism, funky boogaloos, lush ballads and lounge-lizard blues.

Drawing inspiration from organ greats such as Jimmy Smith, Brother Jack McDuff and Shirley Scott, the trio has carved out a distinctive sound described as both soulful and innovative. Each member is a heavyweight in the jazz world: Goldings has worked with Maceo Parker, Tracy Chapman and Herbie Hancock; Bernstein has played alongside Sonny Rollins, Joshua Redman and Brad Mehldau; and Stewart has collaborated with Joe Lovano and John Scofield.

Praised by Downbeat as “a killer organ trio” and hailed by The New York Times as “the best organ trio of the last decade,” this ensemble continues to set the standard for organ jazz.
