Britpop revivalists channel the spirit of Arctic Monkeys and The Smiths at Maassilo

The Lathums are torchbearers of the UK’s rich indie guitar tradition. With their driving, melodic sound, they strike a balance between uplifting and melancholic — modern yet classic. Think jangly hooks, sharp songwriting, and a distinctly British tone reminiscent of The Housemartins, The Smiths, The Libertines and Arctic Monkeys.

Their third album Matter Does Not Define, released in February, features the singles “No Direction,” “Stellar Cast” and “Long Shadows.” It cements their status as a major force in British indie rock. Their 2021 debut How Beautiful Life Can Be shot to #1 in the UK charts, earning them spots at major festivals like ESNS and Lowlands.
