Apeshit

Utrecht punk band Apeshit celebrates the release of its debut album with a show aboard V11.

The band mixes punk rock, jangle rock, garage rock and indie with plenty of humour, even as the subject matter on the new record takes a slightly more serious turn. Fun still sits at the centre of Apeshit’s sound, with scrappy guitars, catchy hooks and songs that rarely take themselves too seriously.

Apeshit itself started during a secondary-school music lesson. Frontman Kees, bassist Nisse and guitarist Kaj were asked to rearrange an existing song in a different genre and chose to turn the Dutch national anthem into punk. That same lesson eventually led to the formation of the band.

Listeners of Bowl, Fit, Devo, The Covids and Wasted Youth Club should find plenty to enjoy here.
