Rotterdam city organist Adriaan Hoek performs Simeon ten Holt’s Canto Ostinato on the famous Doelen organ. Built from repeating musical patterns that gradually change in colour and intensity, the work has become one of the best-known pieces of modern Dutch classical music.

Performed on the organ in de Doelen’s Grote Zaal, the familiar minimalist composition takes on a different scale, with Hoek using the hall and instrument to explore its slowly shifting layers.
