Jef Neve: Key Energy

Belgian pianist and composer Jef Neve comes to LantarenVenster with Key Energy, a solo piano concert marking both 25 years on international stages and a new chapter in his career.

Key Energy is Neve’s second solo album, following One from 2014. This time, the piano stands completely on its own, without vocals or elaborate production. The music draws on memories, dreams and personal experiences, giving the album a particularly intimate character.

Some of Neve’s earliest musical memories reach back to the age of three, when his mother introduced him to the piano at home. He recalls associating individual notes with their own colours and personalities, an imaginative way of hearing music that still influences his work today.

At LantarenVenster, the focus is entirely on Neve and the piano, presenting Key Energy in a seated and intimate setting.
