Mothersfonk + FLiNK & Ride & Fly

Description

Rotterdam eight-piece Mothersfonk brings a high-energy mix of funk and hip-hop to Grounds, built around deep grooves, tight breaks and plenty of room for instrumental fireworks.

Inspired by classic funk and soul while giving the style a contemporary twist, the band combines a powerful rhythm section with sharp arrangements and virtuosic solos. The result is music made for movement, with James Brown-style foundations meeting a distinctly modern Rotterdam sound.

Also on the bill is FLiNK, the project of Rotterdam trumpeter Arthur Flink, joined by funk veterans Ride & Fly. Known from groups including Monsieur Dubois and State Of Monc, Flink brings his nu-jazz background into a harder funk setting filled with tight grooves, improvisation and energetic interplay.
