Youngblood Brass Band + New Orleans brass workshop

Youngblood Brass Band brings its explosive mix of New Orleans brass, hiphop, funk and jazz to LantarenVenster. The ten-piece collective has spent more than two decades proving that brass music can sound anything but traditional.

A powerful horn section meets tight grooves, rap, scratches and an unruly rhythm section, creating a sound that moves freely between brass-band tradition and contemporary hiphop. The group has worked with Talib Kweli and Questlove and has appeared at festivals including North Sea Jazz, Roskilde, Lowlands, Glastonbury and Pukkelpop.

Musicians can also join a New Orleans brass workshop earlier in the day. Youngblood Brass Band introduces participants to the tradition of the New Orleans brass band while exploring improvisation, grooves and ensemble playing. The interactive session runs from 15:00 to 16:30 and is adapted to the level and make-up of the group.
