April 22nd, 2018 - A sunny Sunday afternoon with a lot of young talent. Today the Popunie organizes the lead-up round of Kunstbende in Zuid-Holland. All the young and creative talent of the province has gathered in Rotterdam. With dance, DJ, expo, fashion, film, music, writing and theatre on the program, it’s an interesting afternoon for everyone to attend.
Kunstbende is a nice organization that really does their best to bring out the best in all the participants. Kunstbende was founded in 1991 in the Netherlands but is also active in Belgium, Aruba and Curaçao.
Today's visitors are mainly family members and friends of the artists, but it's also cool for any culturally interested people. Although it’s officially a competition, there is no competition atmosphere at all; the organization does their best to make it friendly and cosy - and with success. They let every participant shine and be a star today at Maaspodium.
If you win during this round in Rotterdam, you will continue to the national final. This year the final will take place on Saturday, June 30th in the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam. And who goes home with the 1st prize is on one of the eight main stages, such as Mysteryland 2019, Oerol 2019, International Film Festival Rotterdam 2019 or Amsterdam FashionWeek 2019. In addition, all the first prize winners will be in the What's Happening area at Lowlands and include coaching from experts in the field.
Kunstbende is the national competition for young creative talent. For many participants, this is a first step towards a professional career in art. For example, famous Dutch acts Trijntje Oosterhuis, Claudia de Breij, Krezip, Douwe Bob and Nielson started at the Kunstbende. After an intensive coaching route, the selected acts once again competed with each other today in Maaspodium in Rotterdam.
Today’s winners: Dante Kedde (expo), Amara van der Elst (writing), Mika de Pee & Stefan Droger (theater), Shihayna Poulina (fashion), Playhousse (dance), Thijs Buizert (DJ), DOUBLLE (music) and Dante Kedde (film).
